No, you can't dropship jewelry on Etsy in the usual sense. As of October 2026, Etsy bans drop shipping and reselling, apart from craft and party supplies. It does allow a production partner to make and ship pieces for you, but only your own designs or pieces your buyer personalizes. You must disclose that partner on your listings and show where items really ship from.
Etsy sellers who contact Grandior often ask the same thing first: can they list designs from our lookbook on Etsy and have us ship them? The honest answer is no. I run my own fine jewelry brands, and I would not risk a shop on it. Here is what Etsy does allow, and how to set a shop up so it stays inside the rules.
Can you dropship jewelry on Etsy in 2026?
No. Etsy's help center puts it plainly: "Drop shipping is not allowed on Etsy." It treats reselling the same way. Both rules are in its article on drop shipping and reselling, checked on October 21, 2026.
Etsy describes drop shipping as selling ready-made products that a supplier ships straight to your buyer, with no change or customization from you. Reselling is selling a commercially available item you did not make or design. A typical jewelry dropshipping setup, where you list a supplier's catalogue and they ship it, is both.
There are narrow exceptions. Craft and party supplies may be resold or drop shipped. Vintage items over 20 years old can be resold if you handpicked them. None of these help a fine jewelry brand.
What does Etsy allow, and what is a grey area?
Etsy allows a jewelry shop to sell pieces made by someone else in two cases: the design is yours, or the buyer customizes the piece. Everything else made by a third party counts as reselling. The table sums up the rules as they stood in October 2026.
| Setup | Etsy's position | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your original design, made by a disclosed production partner | Allowed | Etsy's "designed by a seller" category covers it |
| A piece your buyer personalizes (name, initials, date, engraving), made by a disclosed partner | Allowed | Etsy allows buyer-personalized items from a production partner |
| A supplier's catalogue design, listed as it is and shipped by the supplier | Not allowed | This is drop shipping and reselling |
| Pieces from a white-label maker, OEM, ODM, wholesaler or retailer | Not allowed | Etsy says these do not qualify as production partners |
| A commercial piece with only a gift card, tag or note added | Not allowed | Etsy rules out unaltered items with an added card or note |
| A supplier's design with small changes (chain length, finish, a charm) | Treat as not allowed | Etsy does not accept superficial changes to commercial items |
| A supplier's design you materially redesign into a new, exclusive piece | Grey area | Etsy does not say how much change makes a design yours |
What is an Etsy production partner?
A production partner is a business outside your shop that makes your items for you. Etsy's production partner article gives examples such as print-on-demand services, contract manufacturers and specialist services like laser cutting. For jewelry, that means a workshop that casts, sets, polishes and engraves your pieces.
Three rules matter most:
- What qualifies. The partner makes items you designed, or items the buyer customized. Etsy lists white-label manufacturers, OEMs, ODMs, wholesalers and commercial retailers as not qualifying.
- Disclosure. You disclose the partner on the listings it makes. Partners you add show in your shop's About section.
- Ship-from location. Each listing must show where the item really ships from, including the partner's location when it ships for you.
What happens if you break Etsy's rules?
Etsy can remove listings that break its policies, and you still owe the fees for listing them. Its production partner article also says that sourcing from businesses that do not qualify breaks its reselling rules and can lead to penalties up to account suspension.
For a jewelry shop, a suspension costs more than the listings. You lose your reviews, your sales history and the search ranking you built. That is why the setup below is worth doing properly from the first listing.
How do you add a production partner on Etsy?
You add the partner once in Shop Manager, then attach it to each listing it makes. Etsy's steps, as of October 2026:
- Sign in and open Shop Manager.
- Go to Settings, then Partners you work with.
- Choose to add a new production partner.
- Enter the partner's name, or a descriptive title if you would rather not show it. Add their location and describe how you work together.
- Answer the internal questions about the partnership. Buyers don't see these.
- Preview how it looks in your About section, then save.
- Add the partner to each listing it makes, while editing the listing or in bulk from the Listings page.
- Set each listing's ship-from location to where the partner ships from. For Grandior, that is India.
What processing time should you set for made-to-order jewelry?
Set a processing time that covers making the piece and handing it to the carrier, with a buffer. On Etsy, processing time is how long you need to get an order ready to ship, and for custom items it includes the time to make it. It starts the day after purchase and sets the ship-by date on each order.
You set it in a processing profile: in Shop Manager, open Shipping settings, then Shipping profiles & processing. Pick Made to order, choose a processing time and save. Every listing on that profile updates. Etsy's processing time guide explains how ship-by dates are worked out.
With Grandior, every order is dispatched within 7 days of confirmation. Personalized and custom pieces can take longer. Engraved pieces need a proof first, so the clock starts once the buyer's details are approved. We confirm timelines per order, and your processing time should allow for that. Delivery after dispatch varies by country and prevailing conditions, so keep it out of your processing time and in your shipping estimates.
What about print-on-demand jewelry apps?
Print-on-demand apps are allowed on Etsy as production partners, on the same terms: your design, or the buyer's personalization, disclosed on the listing. Most jewelry print-on-demand services work with stainless steel or plated blanks, finished with engraving or a printed design. That suits low-priced gifts.
It is harder to build a fine jewelry shop on them. If your buyers expect solid gold, sterling silver or real stones, you need a workshop that makes the piece from metal, not a blank with a print. Ask any partner what the piece is made of before you describe it on a listing.
How does a legitimate Etsy jewelry model work?
The model that fits Etsy's rules is simple: you own the designs or the buyer personalizes them, and a disclosed partner makes and ships each order. That is how we work with Etsy sellers as an Etsy production partner.

There are three ways in:
- Personalized pieces. Names, initials, dates, birthstones and engraving, chosen by the buyer at checkout. We offer all kinds of personalization, made one piece at a time with no minimum order.
- Your own designs. Send a sketch or reference and we turn it into CAD, from $55 per design. Once paid for, the design belongs to your shop.
- Your version of a ready design. Start from our lookbook and change it into a new piece of your own. Listing lookbook designs as they are on Etsy is not allowed.
Order samples before you list, so your photos show the real piece. Every order ships in your branded packaging, tracked and insured. If you also sell on your own website, ready designs can go there through jewelry dropshipping, where Etsy's rules don't apply.

Questions founders ask
Is dropshipping allowed on Etsy?
No. Etsy does not allow drop shipping or reselling of items you did not make or design. The only exception is craft and party supplies. You can use a production partner to make and ship your own designs or pieces your buyer personalizes, as long as you disclose the partner.
Can I sell wholesale jewelry on Etsy?
Not as it is. Etsy treats commercially available pieces bought from wholesalers or retailers as reselling. White-label manufacturers, OEMs and ODMs do not count as production partners either. Wholesale pieces suit your own website, Instagram or a boutique instead.
What is an Etsy production partner?
A business outside your shop that makes items for you, such as a casting workshop, an engraver or a print-on-demand service. Etsy allows one for your own original designs, or for pieces your buyer customizes. You add the partner in your shop settings and disclose it on the listings it makes.
Do I have to tell buyers I use a production partner?
Yes. Etsy requires you to disclose a production partner on the listings it makes, and the partners you add show in your shop's About section. You can use a descriptive title instead of the partner's business name. You must also show where the item really ships from.
Can I sell print-on-demand jewelry on Etsy?
Yes, if the design is your own or the buyer personalizes it, because a print-on-demand service counts as a production partner. Listing the app's stock designs as they are is reselling. Most jewelry print-on-demand services work with stainless steel or plated blanks.
What happens if Etsy finds out I am dropshipping?
Etsy can remove listings that break its rules, and you still owe the fees on them. Sourcing from businesses that do not qualify as production partners breaks its reselling rules and can lead to penalties up to suspension of your account.
